Carlow end dismal season with defeat

County Carlow ended their League campaign without a win as Lansdowne held on at Oak Park.

Ireland Under-21 lock Devin Toner won the race to full-back Corey Burt’s chip ahead in the 73rd-minute to set up a Lansdowne win which sees the headquarters side finish eighth in the table.

A try apiece from Lansdowne centre Greg Stafford and Carlow’s number 8 Sean Hennessy saw the sides end the first half at 10-all.

Burt’s second penalty pushed Lansdowne in front, Toner added to their tally but Carlow jangled the visitors’ nerves with replacement back row Tumali Tasola touching down.
