Clontarf secure home semi-final
Clontarf 32 Galwegians 6
Clontarf gained their 13th bonus point of the League campaign as they swatted away Galwegians at Castle Avenue.
The highlight of a rather listless first half was back row Philip Purdue’s try for the hosts. Full-back Daragh O’Shea converted, adding to an earlier penalty, for a 10-0 ‘Tarf lead at the break.
A business-like second half saw Purdue, winger Niall O’Brien, prop Rob Sweeney and back row Darragh Ffrench all go over for ‘Tarf, who face Cork Con in the semi-finals. ‘Wegians replied with a penalty from out-half Brian Murphy and a drop from Connacht Under-21s starlet Peter Durkin.
