Ireland and Wasps openside flanker Johnny O'Connor will not play again this season and will miss Ireland's tour to New Zealand and Australia in June but will make a full recovery from the spinal concussion he suffered playing for his club in the Powergen Cup final.

O'Connor sustained the damage during a collision with Llanelli's Alex Popham in the opening minute at Twickenham two weeks ago and his recovery has been progressing well.

The Irish back row still has swelling and disruption of the neural system in his upper back and will not complete his rehabilitation until the summer.

O'Connor is expected to return to training with Wasps in time for pre-season.
