O'Connor blow for Ireland

Mick O’Driscoll has been called up to the bench for Ireland’s RBS Six Nations clash with Scotland after Johnny O’Connor was ruled out through injury.

Wasps flanker O’Connor, a substitute for all three matches in the championship so far, sustained a groin problem in training this morning.

With little time for the openside to recover, Ireland coach Eddie O’Sullivan has opted to replace him with Munster lock O’Driscoll.

Ireland coach Eddie O’Sullivan said: “Johnny tweaked his groin this morning and is out. It’s a very minor groin strain but given the timeframe there was no chance for him to recover.

“His place will be taken by Mick O’Driscoll who was in camp anyway. He knows the line-out calls and it’s a more seamless transition.”
