A rugby club that has been based at Lansdowne Road since the 1880s is threatening to delay the planned redevelopment of the Dublin stadium.

Wanderers FC have made a submission to Dublin City Council expressing concern about the planned demolition of its pavilion as part of the €365m rebuilding scheme.

The club said it had failed to reach agreement with the IRFU on the provision of replacement facilities in the new stadium.

The IRFU, however, says it has offered Wanderers an alternative premises at the new Lansdowne, along with compensation and a corporate box, and that negotiations on the matter are on-going.
