Cork Con romp to home win
Cork Constitution 41 Belfast Harlequins 13
Richard Lane scored four tries as Cork Constitution breezed into the AIB Cup semi-finals thanks to this hammering of Belfast Harlequins at Temple Hill.
The former Ireland Under-21 winger was at his elusive best as Con ran in five tries in all, with Munster’s Anthony Horgan also touching down, against a depleted 'Quins side.
The visitors, minus current Irish U-21s Darren Cave and Stuart Philpott, trailed 20-3 at the break. 'Quins scored two tries through Nopera Stewart and Mark Kettyle in the second half, but they were little more than consolations.
Typified by the elusive Lane and Cronan Healy, Con continued to press and fly half Darragh Lyons kicked well for a 16-point haul.
'Quins player-coach Andy Ward said: "We're very disappointed with the performance, but you've got to credit a very good Con side. They were full of running, got the tries and deserved to make it into the semis."
