Galwegians were totally outclassed and outgunned by a dominant UCD side, losing 41-12 in their AIB League Division One clash at Belfield this afternoon.

UCD ran in six tries in all with Ken Kennedy, Michael Fanning, Kevin McLaughlin, Cillian Willis, Brian Hall and Simon Crawford all getting in on the act.

‘Wegians bagged tries from prop Denis O’Brien and winger Barry Liddy in the first half with full-back Brendan Bartley adding a conversion for a 12-12 half-time score line.

But their challenge faltered after the break as flanker McLaughlin, scrum half Willis, lock Crawford and prop Hall all breached the visitors’ cover.

The students’ number 10 Killian Lett, in the absence of Eoghan Hickey, struck three penalties and a conversion to help the home side up to fourth in the standings.
