St Mary’s College picked up their third straight AIB League win, edging Belfast Harlequins 20-18 to move ninth in the Division One table today.

Leinster Under-21 fly-half Jonathan Sexton was again the Mary’s hero as he scored 15 points – a try, two conversions and two penalties – to help see off ‘Quins.

Three penalties from the visitors’ number 10 Michael Glancy saw Mary’s 9-3 down at the break, but a sterling second-half effort, which was helped by a sin-binning for ‘Quins flanker Rob Devonshire, saw them win out.

Mary’s also lost flanker Adrian Copeland to a first-half yellow card but they regrouped well to score tries through Sexton and his halfback partner John Kilbride.

Glancy repeated his first-half haul of three penalties in the second half, but the home side held on.
