Decision on Nonu spear tackle deferred

New Zealand’s Ma’a Nonu will have to wait until tomorrow evening to find out the decision of the International Rugby Board over his citing following an incident in the game against Ireland at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

IRB Citing Commissioner Douglas Hunter decided Nonu had to face a hearing which was held at a hotel at Heathrow Airport tonight.

IRB Judicial Officer, His Honour Judge Wyn Williams QC heard submissions from the player, who was accompanied to the hearing by the New Zealand head coach Graham Henry and a legal representative, but decided to defer his decision overnight in order to give full consideration to the many issues raised.

A decision, which relates to an alleged dangerous tackle, is not anticipated before 6pm tomorrow.
