Fly-half Gareth Steenson bagged a 19-point haul as Dungannon won for the second successive weekend – beating Blackrock 36-23 at Stradbrook.

‘Gannon were forced to come from behind after centre Karl Gilligan had touched down on 8 minutes.

Gilligan’s score – his second in as many games – was never built on despite three first-half penalties from the boot of ‘Rock fly-half Paddy O’Toole.

Former Ireland Under-21 captain Steenson kept the visitors in touch at 16-9 down at the break thanks to three penalties of his own.

O’Toole’s sin-binning on 36 minutes really changed the game’s complexion.

Ten minutes into the second half, Steenson crept over for the first of four second-half tries for ‘Gannon.

Stanley McDowell, Oisin Hennessey and Ralph Mercer followed suit before Steenson crowned the win with his fourth penalty on 76 minutes.

‘Rock did get in for a consolation score from centre Simon Morrissey, but the bonus point was out of sight.
