Scotland and Lions back row forward Simon Taylor is set for his first competitive match of the season on Sunday.

The 26-year-old came through a 40-minute appearance for an Edinburgh Development team yesterday evening after a prolonged hamstring problem, which forced him out of the tour to New Zealand.

Now Taylor is targeting a return to action with Edinburgh Gunners for the Celtic League visit of the Ospreys on Sunday.

He told the Edinburgh Evening News: “It’s good to be back. I think the game went well for me but I’ll have to wait and see how I feel over the next few days.

“It has been a little tough over the past few months and a bit up and down, but I’ve taken my time and I’m now getting back to some normality.”
