Scottish delight at clean drug record
The Scottish Rugby Union have revealed a seventh consecutive season free of positive drug tests.
The number of doping tests on Scottish players exceeded 200 for the first time ever last season.
Glasgow Warriors and Scotland captain Jon Petrie has been tested seven times over the last two seasons but the back-row forward understands the need for keeping the sport clean.
Petrie said: “It’s not the most pleasant thing to be asked to do, giving a sample, but all the players realise how important it is and the benefit in continuing to show that rugby in Scotland is clean.”
Despite the successful results, SRU international administration manager Gregor Nicholson insists the doping tests will remain rigorous.
