Foley celebrates Player of the Century accolade
The influence of Munster rugby on the Heineken Cup has been given further exposure by the selection of Munster captain Anthony Foley as the Heineken Cup Player of the Century.
In addition, the Munster-Wasps semi-final last season was chosen as the best game in the 10-year history of the competition.
The poll was carried out on the official ERC website and Foley picked up a staggering 65% of the 100,000+ votes counted.
In second place, a long way behind, was Martin Johnson who collected almost forty thousand votes less than Foley.
Not only does Foley hold the record number of 67 Heineken Cup appearances - he also features on the leading try scorer list in third position with 20 tries, behind Toulouse pair, Michel Marfaing (24) and Emile Ntamack (21) and ahead of such notables as Neil Back, Christophe Dominici, Ben Cohen and Leinster's Lion, Denis Hickie (16).
