Cork Constitution bounced back from their heavy defeat at the hands of Garryowen last week, to edge beleaguered Dublin University 13-6 at College Park.

The win for Brian Walsh's men maintained Con's position in seventh in the AIB League Division One standings.

Two penalties from the boot of full-back Simon Mitchell did aid third-from-bottom Trinity in their relegation fight with a merited bonus point despite an all-round poor performance.

Director of rugby Tony Smeeth said: "We didn't deserve anything from the game. It was very disappointing - we just seemed flat and Con's try was simply the difference between the sides."

Flanker Ronan O'Donovan bagged the crucial second-half try, after Mitchell and Con's Pat McCarthy had traded two penalties apiece.

The sides were level 3-3 at the break.
