Leinster confirm Holwell exit

Leinster confirmed the shock news that Kiwi David Holwell will return to his homeland when the season comes to an end.

Leinster chief executive Mick Dawson said: “David has decided to return home to Northland for family reasons having lived away from home for close to seven years."

Holwell has given Leinster security in their goalkicking and an intelligence in their tactical kicking game that has been absent since the beginning of the professional era.

Dawson added: "Since signing last October from the Wellington Hurricanes, David has proven to be a model professional and a key performer throughout what has been a very good year for the team.

“Though we will be disappointed to see him depart, we respect his wishes and Leinster Rugby would like to take this opportunity to thank David for all his efforts this year and to wish both himself and his family continued success this season and for the future.”

Meanwhile Leinster have announced Ireland international Keith Gleeson and 24-year old Fijian international lock Ifereimi Rawaqa on a short-temr contract as their two new registered players for the knockout stage of the Heineken Cup ahead of today's deadline.

Blackrock College prop Niall Treston will also be included as one of the front row players, as per ERC rules.
