Clontarf stay top with win over UCD
Clontarf 19 UCD 13
UCD points machine Eoghan Hickey scored all of his side's points at Castle Avenue, but the students were still undone by Division One table toppers Clontarf 19-13.
Hickey converted his own second half try, and pocketed two penalties for a late bonus point, but 'Tarf - who slip to second despite their fifth win in six outings - were too far in front with Donovan Rossi helping himself to a hat-trick of tries.
South African scrum-half Dan van Zyl - deputising as "the north Dubliners' kicker as Dave McAllister's services are being employed by Leinster in Edinburgh - failed to convert Rossi's first as they led 5-3 at the break.
He did tag on the extras to the former Ireland Under-19's second half brace as 'Tarf picked up their second win in ten months against the students.
Last April, they finally picked up their first win of 2004 at the seventh attempt as they won 21-0 at Belfield. Their winning run in the current campaign is sure to come under severe pressure next time out when they visit first-placed Shannon on March 26.
Scorers: Clontarf: Tries: Donovan Rossi 3; Cons: Dan van Zyl 2
