Eight-try Harlequins hammer Buccaneers
Belfast Harlequins 56 Buccaneers 14
Fourth-placed Belfast Harlequins treated their new boss Andy Ward to a try-fest as hapless Buccaneers were hammered for eight in a 56-14 Division One demolition.
Buccs had little to answer 'Quins' attacking flair, and kicked three penalties through Justin Meagher to trail 20-9 at the break. At that stage, flanker Chris McCarey, centre WP Strauss and full-back Dirkie Strydom had got in for 'Quins.
It was more of the same from the home side on the restart as McCarey brought his try tally to three, while returning Ireland Under-21s Lewis Stevenson and Paul McKenzie alos got in on the scoring act. Fly-half Ian Humphreys also notched two touch downs too for an impressive 16-point haul.
Pat O'Sullivan got the Pirates' try reply, as they remain without a win in 2005.
Scorers: Belfast: Tries: Chris McCarey 3, Ian Humphreys 2, Lewis Stevenson, Paul McKenzie, WP Strauss; Cons: Humphreys 5; Pens: Humphreys 2
