Miller named Celtic League player of the month

Eric Miller’s powerful forward displays for Leinster in January have earned him the Guinness Draught Can Celtic League Player of the Month Award.

The provinces had mixed fortunes in January as the Celtic League reached its half way stage but Miller consistently produced the goods.

Under immense pressure from Munster on New Year’s Day, Miller broke through the line for a brilliantly worked try which forced a thrilling climax to the encounter at Musgrave Park.

Back on home ground in Lansdowne Road, Miller tormented a hapless Gwent Dragons side with his power horse performance, gaining vital yards and setting the platform for a master class from Leinster’s flying backline in a seven-try drubbing of the Welsh visitors.

His superb form throughout the Celtic League has earned Miller a worthy place in Ireland’s 2005 Six Nations squad.

Ronan Beirne, Guinness Brand Manager said: “The Celtic League has been a showcase for the immense talent that exists in Irish rugby this season and provides top level competitive fixtures for players to develop their game and fight for international selection.

"Eric has consistently proved an inspiring force for Leinster and is thoroughly deserving of the Guinness Draught Can Player of the Month award for January.”

The Guinness Draught Can Celtic League Player of the Month was decided by members of the national sports media and will continue each month throughout the Celtic League.
