Lansdowne moved off the bottom of the AIB League Division One as full back Brian O'Mahony kicked an injury time drop goal to edged hosts Blackrock 19-17 at Stradbrook.

O'Mahony struck two minutes into time added on as Andy Doyle's side picked up a vital second win of the season.

In windy conditions, two Andy Tallon penalties had the visitors into an early 6-3 lead, but 'Rock gradually got into their stride. Back row Dave Dillon touched down midway through for their only try, and Conor Kilroy bagging three penalties for a 14-6 interval lead.

Tallon - who started the game with 38 points in five games - made it a five-point game three minutes after the restart before right winger Hopkins, following a great Niall Ronan break off a lineout, crossed for a converted score.

'Rock's maul gradually played them back into the game at 16-14 down, and Kilroy slammed over his fourth penalty to take the lead.

Lansdowne though, had the luck at the finish as following a 35-metre penalty miss for the win by Tallon, the visitors took the restart and set up field position for O'Mahony to hand Doyle's charges the spoils.
