Randell to stay with Saracens

Former New Zealand captain Taine Randell will take up a third year option on his contract with Saracens.

Randell has survived through some turbulent times with the loss of coaches like Wayne Shelford and Rod Kafer and sub-standard performances in the Zurich Premiership.

"It's been an interesting time, to say the least. Since I have been here it's been an inconsistent time and hopefully this is the end of the upheavals," Randell stated.

"I still enjoy playing and that's why I have taken up the option of a third season here. I still believe we can achieve something, although I don't know what.

"As a club, we don't have the backing of a town like Bath and so it comes down to personal pride and I still have that.

"I wanted to make an impact here and, while it hasn't been in the way I had hoped so far, getting to a cup final this season wouldn't be a bad way of marking this season, would it?"
