UCD win battle against Blackrock

Michael Hastings and Ross McCarron tries saw UCD take Fogarty Cup honours today against Blackrock College, winning their AIB League Division One tussle at Belfield.

The students' first league game since their 20-all Colours draw with Trinity last month, was once more dictated by fly-half Eoghan Hickey and his powerful pack.

UCD, the only unbeaten side left in the top flight, struck for a 10-3 half time lead as Hastings' touch down was converted by Hickey, who also swapped penalties with 'Rock's Conor Kilroy.

Although the visitors made a fight of it late on as Ireland Under 21 John Hearty collected a crossfield kick to score, McCarron's second in two games, Hickey's second penalty and 30-metre drop, completing a 13-point haul, saw the UCD bandwagon roll on.
