England unchanged for World Cup rematch

England coach Andy Robinson has named an unchanged team for Saturday’s World Cup final rematch against Australia at Twickenham.

Robinson today predictably gave a resounding vote of confidence to the players who dismantled Tri-Nations champions South Africa last weekend.

The team will once again be captained by Sale Sharks full-back Jason Robinson in the continued absence of injured fly-half star Jonny Wilkinson.

England produced a world-class display to smash the Springboks 32-16, putting them on the verge of an impressive autumn series clean sweep.

They will encounter an injury-hit Australian side, with the Wallabies already without fly-half Stephen Larkham and centre Stirling Mortlock.

Wing Clyde Rathbone is also struggling with a groin problem and lock Justin Harrison is short of full fitness.

With Mortlock injured former rugby league international Mat Rogers is to start at outside centre after being cleared to play following a disciplinary hearing. Rogers was accused of punching a supporter outside a nightclub in Scotland two weeks ago but police could not substantiate allegations and the Australian Rugby Union hearing cleared the player.

Wallabies coach Eddie Jones is due to name his team and replacements tomorrow.

England field four survivors from the starting line-up which defeated Australia in the World Cup final a year ago – Robinson, wing Josh Lewsey, centre Mike Tindall and hooker Steve Thompson.
