Ballymena 32 Co Carlow 10

Tries from number 8 Michael McComish and backs Andrew Trimble, Matt Waterhouse and Scott Young handed Ballymena a deserved 32-10 first AIB League win of the season against Co Carlow.

The deserved success sees the Braid men up to sixth - thanks to their second bonus point of a so far disappointing campaign.

McComish's second try in two games set Ballymena up for a 10-3 half-time lead, with Carlow number 15 Billy Murphy kicking their only reply.

Ballymena's backs cut loose after the restart with Trimble, Waterhouse and Young - also notching his second score in seven days - leaving the home side in better fettle for for the start of new coach Steph Nel's reign at the start of December.

Second row Pat Holden grabbed a consolation for Carlow, who slip to the bottom.

Scorers:

Ballymena: Tries: Michael McComish, Andrew Trimble, Matt Waterhouse, Scott Young; Cons: Dirkie Strydom, Owen Edwards; Pens: Dirkie Strydom 2

Carlow: Try: Pat Holden; Con: Billy Murphy; Pen: Billy Murphy
