Cork Con given a lesson by Students
UCD 30 Cork Con 7
Eoghan Hickey was again on song for UCD as they maintained their unbeaten run against Cork Con at Belfield, scoring two second half tries in a 30-7 success.
Fly-half Hickey, who turned 23 last week, leads the AIB League Division One points scorers following another 20-point haul - matching the twenty he struck against Dungannon (30-17) two weeks ago.
7-6 down at the break thanks to a second phase drive over try from Con's Shane O'Connor, the Students fought back bravely as Hickey plundered two drop goals on 45 and 51 minutes to see them into a six-point lead.
Back row Kevin Croke then touched down and with Hickey adding the extras to centre Ken Kennedy's try on 69 minutes, and kicking a further two penalties, there was no comeback for Brian Walsh's visitors.
Scorers:
UCD: Tries: Kevin Croke, Ken Kennedy; Con: Eoghan Hickey; Pens: Eoghan Hickey 4; Drop gls: Eoghan Hickey 2
Cork Con: Try: Shane O'Connor; Con: Pat McCarthy
