Mark Jones to make return after a year
Wales wing Mark Jones returns to the rugby field for the first time in nearly a year tomorrow.
The 16-times capped Jones has not played a full game of rugby since the World Cup quarter-final against England Brisbane last November.
But after undergoing two knee operations 24-year-old Jones is ready to launch a comeback.
He is having a run-out for his former club side Llandovery in the Welsh Premiership at Swansea tomorrow afternoon and is expected to play for 20 minutes.
“It’s a question of just easing myself back. I don’t want to run before I can walk,” said Jones.
“I’m a little bit nervous about it. It will be like starting again. But I’m fed up with all the fitness work – it will be nice just to get the ball in my hand again.”
Jones hopes that by Christmas he will be ready to start for his regional side the Llanelli Scarlets and make a bid to be included in Wales’s Six Nations Championship squad.
