England sevens skipper Simon Amor has made a rapid recovery from ankle trouble and will line up in Gloucester’s final pre-season friendly against Italian side Calvisano tomorrow.

Amor was hurt during the London Pride Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham a fortnight ago, missing Gloucester’s run to the final.

But he has recovered to feature at scrum-half for the Kingsholm clash, which also sees flanker Peter Buxton moved into the second row alongside Mark Cornwell and England Under-21 wing James Bailey, a summer signing from Bristol Shoguns, handed a start.

Gloucester, meanwhile, say their England prop Phil Vickery is “progressing well” as he continues his recovery from back surgery.

Vickery missed England’s summer tour of New Zealand and Australia, but could be playing again in October.
