Gaffney wary of Dominguez threat
Munster coach Alan Gaffney has warned his players to keep their discipline - or risk being kicked out of the Heineken Cup.
Gaffney’s revered European warriors will reach a remarkable fifth successive Heineken Cup semi-final if they beat French champions Stade Francais at Thomond Park tomorrow and the odds are stacked heavily in Munster’s favour.
They have yet to lose a Heineken Cup game in Limerick, while only six out of 28 tournament quarter-final ties have been won by away sides – Munster (twice), Toulouse, Brive, Perpignan and Llanelli.
Gaffney is wary of the threat posed by a diminutive 37-year-old who stands head and shoulders above his peers as Heineken Cup rugby’s most prolific points machine.
Stade fly-half Diego Dominguez, who celebrates his 38th birthday in a fortnight’s time, has amassed 633 points during the competition’s eight-year history – 51 more than his closest challenger, Munster goalkicker Ronan O’Gara.
And Gaffney knows that Dominguez will inevitably punish Munster with every chance he gets.
