The dentist has been advised by medical experts to save his long-term working career by cutting short his professional contract.

Former Ulster Coach Alan Solomons commented: "Tony has been a fantastic servant for both Ulster and Irish Rugby, and his presence, particularly at Ulster, will be sorely missed."

Meanwhile, former Northampton, Ulster and Ireland hooker Allen Clarke has been appointed as assistant coach to Mark McCall.
