Philip cited for O'Driscoll tackle

Scotland international Tom Philip has been cited for a high tackle on Brian O’Driscoll during the RBS 6 Nations defeat against Ireland on Saturday.

A three-man disciplinary panel will sit tomorrow to discuss the incident, which was caught on television cameras but missed by match officials.

A spokesman for the Six Nations Committee said: “The citing is for a high tackle on Brian O’Driscoll.

“A disciplinary panel is being set up and there will be a hearing tomorrow.

“It is up to the player whether he chooses to attend or not. He can also send representatives.

“There are some recommended sanctions laid down by the IRB but the panel does not necessarily have to follow them.”
