UCD come from behind for win
UCD 15 Galwegians 14
UCD came from behind at Belfield Park to earn their fourth win of the season, as tries from back row David Blaney and Darren McKenna saw off the Galwegians’ challenge by 15-14.
A first away win of the campaign for the Connacht men looked on course with an early try from right wing Ger Brady, allied to a 14th minute penalty from out-half David Delaney, giving them an 8-7 lead at the break.
John McClean’s charges held the advantage in the packs and Blaney had powered over for his first try of the season converted by former Shannon out-half Niall McNamara in the first half.
Despite the concession of two further penalties to Delaney, the Students claimed the win, their third at the Dublin 4 venue in 2003/4, with a try from McKenna following good work in the loose by Niall Coughlan.
Galwegians remain at the foot of the table with UCD up to seventh, between Dublin rivals Blackrock and Clontarf.
