There have been more calls for Marcelo Loffreda to resign after Argentina failed to reach the quarter-finals of the rugby World Cup.

There have been more calls for Marcelo Loffreda to resign after Argentina failed to reach the quarter-finals of the rugby World Cup.

Hugo Porta, the best player in the history of Argentine rugby, criticised the Argentina play during the RWC and believes Loffreda should not have his contract renewed.

“We all had hopes in qualifying (for the quarter-finals),” said Porta. “The national team had the chance of working as they had never done before, but they could not reach their target.

“I expected more from the team. I believe Argentina kept it very tight and would not take risks,” the 52-year-old told www.rugbytime.com.

“I think Loffreda had his chance, he worked four years with all the Argentine rugby supporting him and it is time to give the chance to someone else.”
