Ireland off mark with Maggs try
Ireland 7, France 40
A Kevin Maggs try in the 52nd minute got Ireland on the scoreboard in their World Cup quarter-final showdown with France in Melbourne.
David Humphreys, on as a substitute for Ronan O'Gara, duly converted.
However, a Jacques Crenca try in the 48th minute, converted by Frederic Michalak, and two penalties by the out-half, kept the French in a commanding lead.
