Munster flanker David Wallace has been called up to replace injured team-mate Alan Quinlan, who dislocated his left shoulder scoring his team’s only try in the 16-15 win over Argentina.

Quinlan left the field immediately and had the shoulder relocated but he has already been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.

Irish team management have already begun the process of flying Wallace out to Australia.

Wallace is a former Lions tourist and his omission from the original World Cup squad was a major shock.

He is, like Quinlan, a utility loose forward able to play on either the blindside or the openside.
