Having led 15-9 at the break, last season’s runners-up earned a 23-15 win over plucky Galwegians at Castle Avenue.

It’s now 12 wins in their last 12 AIB games at the venue for coach Phil Werahiko and 12 games since a Connacht side won in north Dublin.

The home side scored three tries in all, with full back Niall O’Brien starting the sequence in the first half.

Wing Gareth Rossi also got in on the act with lock Andy Wood completing the hat trick. Out-half David McAllister added a conversion and two penalties.
