Fiji plea to Raiwalui

Fiji are trying to tempt Saracens lock Simon Raiwalui out of international retirement because of injuries affecting their World Cup preparations.

The plea to Raiwalui comes after Ifereimi Rawaqa suffered a prolapsed disc in his back and the Fiji Rugby Union's chief executive Pio Bosco Tikoisuva has now written to former Test captain Raiwalui.

"This is not a put-on. We need his help now more than ever," Tikoisuva told www.rugbyrugby.com.

"We had made plans without Simon based on what he told us (about retiring from Test rugby) but we hope he understands the emergency we are facing."

Fiji face France, Scotland, USA and Japan in their World Cup pool, opening against Les Bleus in Brisbane on October 11.
