Australia make all right moves

Australia have finally got it right with a 29-9 win over South Africa in a fiery Tri-Nations clash at Suncorp Stadium.

After successive defeats to the Springboks and New Zealand, the Wallabies showed glimpses of the form they will need to successfully defend the World Cup later this year.

Although the hard-tackling South Africans restricted the Aussies to just two tries, a superb goalkicking performance by Elton Flatley proved decisive.

Flatley contributed 19 points, booting five penalty goals and converting two second half tries by centre Mat Rogers and flanker Phil Waugh.

Louis Koen scored all the Springbok points with three penalties from five attempts.

Indiscipline contributed significantly to South Africa’s downfall though a lop-sided penalty count imposed by New Zealand referee Paddy O’Brien.
