Carry on hurting - Krige

South Africa captain Corne Krige wants his team to go on hurting over their crushing defeat to the All Blacks last weekend.

He insists they all need to hurt as a constant reminder of how much they must improve after the trauma of their 52-16 demolition - South Africa's biggest ever home defeat.

"We had a chat today about the fact that the loss hurt us," Krige said on Thursday.

"It must continue to hurt us and remind us so that we can lift our levels on the field.

"Every guy on this tour knows that there is a huge challenge out there and we need to prove ourselves in the eyes of the public again.

"We discussed it Sunday morning and today with the management present. But in the end you can discuss it as much as you want, but it is about going out there and changing things that you think aren't right.

"We need to make sure that whatever happened last weekend does not happen again, as long as we play this game."

The Springboks, who scored an upset 26-22 win over Australia the week before the All Black debacle, hope to pick up the pieces of their shattered Tri-Nations campaign when they take on the Wallabies in the return match in Brisbane on Saturday week.

Coach Straeuli echoed his captain's sentiments.

"If you look at the reaction and the way we feel as the team and management. It was our first loss this year and it didn't go down well with us at all," said Straeuli.

"We had some injuries this year but, we are looking forward to these two weeks.

"We will be working hard to put things right. We can talk about good team atmosphere and other things but we will simply be judged by our results in the Antipodes."
