Pumas roar back to defeat Irish U21s

Argentina 30 Ireland 19

Argentina 30 Ireland 19

Ireland have been cruelly denied a place in the last four of the IRB Under 21 World Cup losing out to a powerful Argentina outfit 30-19.

It was looking good for Ireland at half-time when tries from UCC's Richie Lane, Ciaran Potts and Niall Ronan had helped build a 19-12 lead with that all important bonus point also within reach.

The second period could not have been more different, however, as the smaller Irish pack ran out of steam and they failed to register another score.

Argentina join New Zealand, Australia and South Africa in a Southern hemisphere dominated semi-final line-up while Ireland must now go on to fight it out for ninth to 12 place with Japan, Italy and Canada.
