The United States won their repechage series against Spain to claim the 20th and final spot at Rugby World Cup 2003.

The Eagles, coming off a 62-13 victory in Madrid a fortnight ago, scored eight tries to one to beat the Spaniards 58-13 at the Lockhart Stadium, Fort Lauderdale.

David Fee, Philip Eloff and Conrad Hodgson crossed twice for the USA, while Riaan van Zyl and captain Dan Lyle each scored one try.

Former Sydneysider Mike Hercus kicked 18 points with six conversions and two penalties.

The USA now take their place in Pool B which will see them take on France, Scotland, Fiji and Japan.
