Athlone Institute of Technology completed the three in a row of Irish Colleges championship with a comfortable 32-10 win over Waterford IT at Railway Union.

Buccaneers Niall Smullen was the chief threat, compiling a hat-trick of tries in the first-half, as Athlone went to the break leading 24-10.

Waterford applied heavy pressure in the second half, but Athlone stood firm and openside Colin Finnerty broek away for another try to seal the issue.
