Co Carlow retained their Division One status for next season with a 41-26 victory over UL/Bohemians in a 10-try thriller at Thomond Park.

The defeat means UL/Bohs will be playing their rugby in Division Two in the coming year.

Co Carlow laid the foundation for this win in the opening 13 minutes after which they led by 19-0, thanks to tries from Alan Gallivan, Mark Buckley and Liam O’Byrne.

Bohs fought back with a hat-trick of tries from centre Keith Matthews to trail by a point 27-26 after 55 minutes.

However, Co Carlow made sure of their Division One place for next season with late tries from O’Byrne and substitute Bobby Baggott.
