Leicester remain on Premiership track

Leicester’s Premiership play-off hopes remained on track at The Stoop after the Tigers headed into the break with a narrow lead over Harlequins.

Harlequins 5, Leicester 9 (half-time)

Leicester’s Premiership play-off hopes remained on track at The Stoop after the Tigers headed into the break with a narrow lead over Harlequins.

Full-back Tim Stimpson booted the Tigers in front in the second minute with a penalty after Harlequins were penalised for a ruck offence.

Stimpson added to the Tigers’ lead with a 17th-minute penalty but the home side did not let the Premiership champions run away.

Quins continued to rally hard and their efforts were rewarded when Ben Gollings crashed over the try line for a score.

It came after a 22-metre scrum as the home side spread the ball out wide to winger Gollings.

Knowing he could not get through, Gollings kicked ahead to outfox Stimpson and score.

Fly-half Paul Burke missed the conversion in the gusty winds.

Stimpson hit back for the Tigers with his third penalty to keep Leicester ahead at the break.
