Late penalty sinks St Mary's
A 79th minute drop goal by full-back Sheldon Coulter scuppered St Mary’s top four chances at Templeville Road.
St Mary’s could never shake off a dogged Belfast side in a game that was marred by basic errors by both teams.
Tries by Conor McPhillips and Mark McHugh helped the home side to a 15-13 half-time lead.
But Brent Pope’s side could only manage a penalty by Barry Lynn in the entire second half as Ajay Derwin’s penalty and Coulter’s late drop goal gave Harlequins all four points.
