Mullin hails record breaker O'Driscoll

The record-breaking achievements of Brian O’Driscoll have received a ringing endorsement from Irish legend Brendan Mullin.

The record-breaking achievements of Brian O’Driscoll have received a ringing endorsement from Irish legend Brendan Mullin.

Ireland’s captain can expect a hero’s welcome at Lansdowne Road on Saturday when he leads the RBS 6 Nations leaders out against France after he broke Mullin’s Irish try-scoring record during his side’s 37-13 win over Italy in Rome.

Mullin, who scored 17 tries in 55 appearances from 1984-95, was delighted for O’Driscoll, whose brilliant career he has followed from an early age, and believes his own try tally will soon be dwarfed by more of the present crop of three-quarters.

"Brian is a world-class player and the Irish team are playing good rugby at the moment," said Mullin, who toured Australia with the British Lions in 1989.
