Former England and Lions coach Dick Best believes that Steve Hansen could become a scapegoat for the ills of Welsh rugby if Wales are heavily beaten by England in Cardiff this weekend.

Wales crashed to defeat against Italy on the opening weekend of the RBS Six Nations, leading to calls from some quarters for a change of the Dragons' management, calls that are likely to multiply in the wake of a heavy Millennium Stadium defeat on Saturday.

"In my limited time working there (Wales), very few players and administrators had actually grasped what professional sport was about and if the people playing and running the game don't have a clue, what chance have you got?" said Best in his column for London's Evening Standard.

"Inevitably, it will be Wales coach Steve Hansen who will become the scapegoat if, as I expect, England take them apart at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday.
