Last season's runners-up trounced Ulster 42-10 last night.

Munster ran in three first half tries from John Hayes, Alan Quinlan and John Kelly. Mike Mullins and Mick Galwey made the second half tries - with Ronan O'Gara kicking 17 points.

Meanwhile, Leinster defeated Connacht 25-3 in a friendly at Athlone's Ericsson Park.

Girvan Dempsey, Brian O'Driscoll and Aidan McCullen all ran in tries, with Brian O'Meara kicking 10 points.

Dempsey though went off with a groin-strain, while Mark McHugh sent over Connacht's only score.
