Buccaneers continued their unbeaten run in division one overcoming Co Carlow in a rain-soaked Moher Road pitch in Ballinasloe.

Two tries from fullback and man of the match Niall O¹Hara in each half set Buccaneers on their way despite going into the second half 11 - 12 behind.

Buccaneers' influential outhalf Lee Turner opened the scoring after two minutes with a penalty, but it was the Co Carlow side that made most of the running in the first 40 minutes, fully deserving of their opening try when evergreen No 8 Andy Meville finished off a move he started at the tail,

which outhalf Dan Van Zyl converted.

However Buccaneers kept in touch when replacement centre Justin Meagher and Paddy O'Sullivan linked with O'Hara, who changing angles, raced from 30 metres out to close the gap to 8 - 7.

Carlow stretched the lead when Mark Buckley crossed on the left wing for an unconverted try, but Buccaneers stayed in touch with a Turner penalty on the stroke of half-time.

The next 10 minutes proved crucial as Buccaneers notched two tries.

Meagher and Turner carved the space for O'Hara¹s second after 44 minutes, while centre Paddy O'Sullivan finished the try-scoring for Buccaneers after 55 minutes.

Carlow's only response was a 68 minute penalty, failing to exit Ballinasloe with a deserved bonus point.
