Corne Krige has been confirmed as the Springbok captain for the end of season internationals against France, Scotland and England.

Krige has captained South Africa in the last six Tests and coach Rudolf Straeuli saw no reason for change.

“Corne and I have been in constant communication about his situation. I was very worried that he would not recover in time and that he would physically not be up to the challenge of touring.

However, his fitness tests are very good and the six-week rest during the Currie Cup has recharged his batteries,” Straeuli told www.sarugby.net.

“He is an important part of the squad and with Bob Skinstad unavailable because of injury, Corne’s captaincy was a consideration I was not prepared to overlook easily.”
