Thirty-two years old prop forward Simon Kerr, coach Alan Gaffney's latest signing, arrived in Ireland on Sunday morning.

It is expected that the former Queensland Red will play some part for Munster in their pre-season friendly against Connacht at The Sportsground on Friday.

Gaffney was the New South Wales backs coach when Kerr played for the Warratahs in 1997. He has also represented New Zealand's Southland.

Kerr is more recognised as a tight head, but can play both sides of the scrum.
