Galwey helps Munster to friendly victory
Munster 31 Bristol 10
Two tries each from Mick Galwey and Jeremy Staunton helped Munster get their pre-season programme under way with a convincing win over English side Bristol Shoguns at Thomond Park, Limerick tonight.
Neither side was at full strength with virtually all Munster’s first-choice players were absent either through injury or on international training duty with Ireland.
Bristol took the lead with a Lee Best try on 20 minutes but Munster turned on the gas in the second half. Galwey opening the scoring but Bristol retook the lead with an unconverted try from Brendon Daniel before Munster went ahead yet again on the hour with a try from substitute full-back Kevin O’Riordan.
The final quarter saw Munster run away with the contest thanks to two tries from Staunton and a final flourish from Galwey.
